Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Plymouth
Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of works, an excellent opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established construction company on a permanent basis. The business operates across a range of sectors including Education, Commercial, Industrial, and Heritage. This role will be primarily office-based, with regular site visits and client meetings in the surrounding areas. It is ideally suited to a recent graduate or someone nearing completion of a Quantity Surveying degree, as well as individuals looking to take the next step in their career within the construction industry. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the commercial team in preparing cost estimates, budgets, and tender documentation
- Undertake quantity take-offs and prepare bills of quantities (BOQs)
- Support the procurement of subcontractors, suppliers, and materials in line with project specifications and budgets
- Monitor and track project costs, including variations, change orders, and progress payments
- Collaborate with the project team to review and negotiate subcontractor and supplier agreements
- Assist with the valuation of works and certification of subcontractor payments in line with contractual terms
- Attend site visits to monitor progress, quality, and compliance, identifying potential issues where necessary
- Maintain accurate records and documentation, including contracts, correspondence, and financial reports
- Degree or relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with a high level of accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent IT skills
- A proactive, adaptable approach with a willingness to learn
- Full UK driving licence
