An exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Town Planner or Associate Planner to join an established, award winning multidisciplinary consultancy as they expand into Exeter.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious planning professional who is looking to take the next step in their career, with the chance to play a key role in developing and leading the planning team within a new Exeter office.
Working alongside an experienced team of Architects, Landscape Architects and Planning Consultants, you will have the opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of projects whilst helping to establish and grow the practice's presence across Devon and the wider South West.
This position would suit an experienced Senior Planner ready to step into a more senior position, or an established Associate looking for an opportunity to take ownership of a planning team and contribute to the growth of a new office.
The Role
- Leading and managing planning projects from initial feasibility through to planning approval.
- Preparing and submitting planning applications, planning statements, appeals and supporting documentation.
- Providing planning advice to clients on development opportunities, planning policy and development strategies.
- Managing your own portfolio of projects and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Liaising and negotiating with local planning authorities, consultants, developers and other stakeholders.
- Working closely with the wider architectural and landscape teams to deliver coordinated projects.
- Supporting business development, identifying new opportunities and building relationships across Devon and the South West.
- Playing a key role in establishing and developing the planning team within the Exeter office, with the potential to grow and mentor a team as the business expands.
- Experience at Senior Planner or Associate level, ideally gained within a planning consultancy or multidisciplinary practice.
- MRTPI Chartered status, although experienced candidates working towards chartership will also be considered.
- Strong knowledge of the UK planning system, planning policy and development management.
- Experience managing planning applications and advising clients throughout the planning process.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and client relationship skills.
- A proactive approach with an interest in business development and helping to grow a planning team.
- The confidence and ambition to take on a leading role within a developing office.
