JOB DESCRIPTION

A Waste Disposal Operative is responsible for efficiently and safely managing the disposal of waste materials at designated sites. This role involves the collection, transportation, and proper disposal of waste, as well as adherence to environmental regulations and safety protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS

No academic qualifications are required. Training is provided on-the-job. A minimum age limit of 18 years normally applies.

TASKS

  • Collect waste from residential, commercial, or industrial areas using designated collection vehicles..
  • Empty trash bins and containers into the waste disposal vehicle..
  • Sort collected waste into different categories, including recyclables and non-recyclables..
  • Ensure proper segregation of materials for recycling purposes..
  • Drive and operate waste disposal vehicles, including refuse trucks and compactors..
  • Follow designated routes and schedules for waste collection..
  • Load and unload waste materials onto and from collection vehicles..
  • Use appropriate equipment, such as forklifts or conveyor belts, as needed..
  • Identify and handle hazardous waste materials with adherence to safety guidelines..
  • Follow protocols for the safe disposal of potentially dangerous substances..
  • Ensure compliance with waste management and environmental regulations..
  • Dispose of waste in designated areas and facilities according to legal requirements..
